Discussion

Tony M Jan 25, 2017:
@ Asker Of course, it does also depend on just what this 'bonus' consists of — usually, shops give some kind of discount (= money off), whereas 'bonus' tends to imply 'something you get extra' — hence why it could seem slightly contrived in this context; but then, perhaps there IS some actual bonus involved: "buy a cooker and we give you a free toaster!" or whatever?
Tony M Jan 25, 2017:
@ Asker Sure, I wasn't suggesting anything like that for one moment.
But the associaiton of ideas 'bonus' = 'nice surprise you get at the end of the year' fits very well with your marketing context...
TB CommuniCAT (asker) Jan 25, 2017:
@ Tony Thanks for the idea, but this is more targeting/trying to sell the appliances and not the employee's bonus. So, I think Antoine's suggestion is pretty good.
Tony M Jan 25, 2017:
Cultural context It is possible there is a faint echo of 2 cultural notions in this text — neither of which, I fear, will come across in FR!

1) There is a common expression along the lines of "New Year, new me!", which has been calqued in many forms, usually with this 2 + 2 word format.

2) It is also possible that the mention of 'bonus' could be a nod to the traditional New Year bonus sometimes paid to employees; what would once have been called a Christmas bonus; in this respect, I suppose it most closely resembles the '13ème mois' in FR.

I doubt this is much help in translating, but I throw it into the melting-pot just in case it sparks any ideas...
