Another option would be to go down to literal meaning: what is meant here by rectangular pitch football codes are association football (known as soccer in the US and Australia and just football in France), rugby union (rugby à 15), rugby league (rugby à 13). (There may be some more than aren't coming to mind). However, australian rules (to summarise, a mix of Irish gaelic football and association football) is played on oval cricket pitches and is not included here.

American football is not popular in Australia, to my knowledge...they\'re too busy with proper sports. :-)))

Alors, maintenant, sur sa traduction, je changerais \'des\' en \'les\'
et \'les sports\' en \'les sports de ballons\' et enfin, \'sur un terrain rectangulaire\' (un seul terrain et la pelouse n\'a peut-être pas encore poussé...)
