Explanation:
Theseus carried the head of the Minotaur on the white sail he promised his father he would ( hoist and )wave on his ship as a sign of victory, and his ship sailed with black sails.
Aegeus had grown old waiting. But then, one day, as he stood on the cliff he was going to see his son's ship return, he saw Theseus' ship approaching at last and held his breath....
