English term or phrase: Why was the slut in the hospital?

Can't figure out what's funny about this joke.

The whole joke comes from a postcard named "The Ten Best Cheap'N Easy Slut Jokes".

The question is "Why was the slut in the hospital" where the answer is "Because she was picked up by the fuzz".

Doing a simple research, I found out that "the fuzz" means police, but if a slut was picked up by a police(wo)man, why would she end up in a hospital?

Explanation:
Fuzz is a euphemism for pubic hair. Being picked up by her pubic hair might land her in hospital. But of course, you'd be more likely to expect the other meaning, that she was picked up by the police. And that's the (pretty terrible) joke.

why was the slut in the hospital? play on word "fuzz"

Explanation:
Yes "the fuzz" is slang for the police but is also being used to describe her pubic hair. So she could have been injured if she was picked up by that!
