The surface of flameproof joints (terminal board cover/terminal beard; joints for the shaft) HAVE NOT TO BE MACHINED OR PAINTED. These surfaces must be kept clean and, against corrosion and to prevent the water from entering, with a thin layer of silicon-based grease.
I'm not sure what they mean here by "beard", is the translation "faisceau de connexion" ok, or does it really mean something else?
