When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Ramadan Ibrahim Jul 5, 2020:
تانبر @Ludina Sallam, As you mentioned that the official website translated it to stamp fees. I didn't agree on the postage stamp as it is usually known that is used for post purposes meaning. So, there is no confusion now. Many thanks for this useful discussion!
Ludina Sallam (asker) Jul 5, 2020:
So, to clarify, in the three translations from the link in my last comment, the French word "timbre" corresponds with the Arabic words الطابع الجبائي and the English words "stamp duties," and so since "timbre" corresponds with الطابع الجبائي, this must mean that تانبر corresponds with الطابع الجبائي, and in conclusion the English translation of تانبر can be "stamp duties." (Or some phrase similar of this nature would work as a translation.)

Hope this is not too confusing!

Thank you all both so much for your help. I wish I did not have to choose one right answer, but unfortunately I must. Thanks again!
Ludina Sallam (asker) Jul 5, 2020:
Thanks so much for this useful discussion. I have also seen, in the link I posted in my first comment, that sometimes the word "postage stamp" has been used for "revenue stamp." However, I was confused at first because I thought maybe it was postage to send the report through the mail. So postage stamp was confusing to me.

If one goes to the the link that Ramadan just posted, if one looks at the heading at the top of the page, and then hits the buttons at the top of the site for Arabic, English, French, you get the following as translations of that heading:
Code des droits d'enregistrement et de timbre
Registration fees and stamp duties code
مجلة معاليم التسجيل والطابع الجبائي

Here one notices the word "timbre" in the French. I am sure this is where تانبر must come from!

Abdullah Ahmad Jul 4, 2020:
all options are synonyms all options are synonyms
check this reference:
https://synsets.net/ar/stamp.html
طابع بريد = تانبر= طابع = طابع بريدي
stamp = postage stamp = fiscal stamp = revenue stamp = tax stamp
Ramadan Ibrahim Jul 4, 2020:
I agree, It should be a tax stamp. I suggested only stamp to make it general not related to any governmental bodies. After check of this link which is the text of the law: http://www.legislation.tn/affich-code/Code-des-droits-d'enre...
It is الطابع الجبائي in Arabic. So, you can translate it as tax stamp or revenue stamp.
Ludina Sallam (asker) Jul 4, 2020:
Maybe it should be translated as "revenue stamp fee"?
Ludina Sallam (asker) Jul 4, 2020:
Thank you all so much for your valuable help!!

After looking at Ramadan Ibrahim's link that the word means something like "revenue stamp"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revenue_stamp

طابع مالية، طابع دخل، طابع إيرادات
rather than a postage stamp
طابع بريدي

L’institut national de la consommation rappelle que la dernière révision de la tarification du droit de timbre sur les opérations de recharges et les factures remonte au 28 Août 2014, ainsi toute augmentation observée sur le marché -ultérieurement- est considéré nulle et non avenue.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Abdullah Ahmad : I think there is no difference between a 10-Dinar postage stamp and the stamp fees are 10 Dinars, just it's a different option. Although "timbre" in the above mentioned reference refers to something like a value added tax.
