English translation:real life relevance
Explanation:
I'd keep "references" to "lifeworld" out of this.

Like this author said - it's practically impossible to write about models of classroom teaching without connecting them to the "real world".

Example: "Here are some other ways to bring real-life relevance to the literacy classroom.." https://www.lexialearning.com/blog/creating-authentic-learni...

Here's one way how you might translate that sentence:

"Real-life (real-world) relevance has become a largely unquestioned and axiomatic tenet in teaching."

reference to the lifeworld

Explanation:
Lifeworld is a sociological concept (see, e.g., Alfred Schütz or later Jürgen Habermas). At times German-speaking scholars use it without reflecting much on its theoretical substance so that in some cases it can simply be replaced by "everday life" or the like. As for the "Bezug" part, I wouldn't always nominalize but adapt the translation in ways that sounds natural.

agree  Kim Metzger: Not sure about 'bezug'. Experience? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifeworld

  -> Thanks, Kim!

agree  John O'Brien: You could also replace "life-world" = Lebenswelt with its definition in English, which could be something like "the world of our immediately lived experience"

  -> Thanks, John!

neutral  Michael Martin, MA: Lifeworld is a construct; Lebenswelt is primarily an everyday term. That's a mismatch then. And reference seems completely out of place here.

agree  A. & S. Witte: Real-world relevance
5 hrs
  -> Yes, keeping it real here.

neutral  Björn Vrooman: Agree with relevance and with your comment on Stephan's answer (same goes for lived experience(s)). However, just because something has real-world relevance doesn't mean it is relevant to my life, i.e., Lebenswelt. Yours is Praxisrelevanz.

agree  Betty Finn: I get Björn‘s objection but think that could be resolved by writing sth like “relevance(/-t) to the students’ lives“ on one occasion where the term appears and otherwise sticking to this formulation

(common) lived experiences

Explanation:

In education, we discuss the importance of using students' prior knowledge. What is also important is learning about the "lived experiences" of the children we teach and connecting those experiences to the learning at hand.

Common Lived Experiences
Unearth any information that you can from your students. Take student interest inventories. Have them discuss their favorite musicians, song, sport, activity, video game, or food. Next, as their teacher, research any unfamiliar TV shows, films, singers, or video games that multiple students mentioned. Then ask yourself, "How might I integrate these interests in my daily lessons and units?

Educator Lisa Delpit coined the term "culturally responsive teaching," and her research showed that students really need to see connection between learning and their lived experiences Therefore, teachers need to create routine situations where students' lives are brought into the learning and connections are made between the stories they share and the content being learned.
