Italian term

riceve collaterali eterocoronarici

Italian to English Medical Medical: Cardiology
This is from the cardiac history section of a patient's hospitalisation report:

"IVA: occlusione cronica intrastent al tratto medio (riceve collaterali eterocoronarici); restenosi critica intrastent su primo ramo diagonale."

So far I've got "experienced heterogenous coronary side effects" but would like to know others' opinions.

Emily, it would be helpful to your ProZ colleagues in the future if you posted the answer you came up with. Someone needing to translate this term in the future might benefit from seeing what you used.
Joseph Tein Feb 7, 2019:
Intercoronary It's tempting to just say "heterocoronary" because it looks like it should be an English word, but if you look online it's not very common. In my own glossary I have "intercoronary" as the translation for this (intercoronary = collateral circulation - between different coronary arteries).

Proposed translations

filled by heterocoronary collateral vessels

Collateral vessels form to preserve blood flow in the event of blockages. Nothing to do with side effects. I would say "filled by heterocoronary collateral vessels (or circulation instead of vessels)".

"The LAD was filled by the collateral circulation through a large conus artery that originated within the right sinus of Valsalva, very close to the ostium of the RCA.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Joseph Tein : Ciao Fiona. I would not use "heterocoronary" ... see my comment above. Also, this article is a translation. A fairly good one, but you can see the occasional unnatural phrasing.

While "heterocoronary" may not be as common as the term "intercoronary" you suggest (thank you for the suggestion), it IS used, in papers by native English authors. If you disagree with "filled by", go ahead and post an alternative.
