English term or phrase: peace of the Lord
Bonjour à tous,

Je traduis un e-mail dans le cadre d'une adoption "simple" de la part du beau-père d'un petit garçon, qui écrit à son père biologique pour lui demander son accord écrit.
Le papa a répondu en commençant son e-mail par "Hi XXX, peace of the Lord. Nice to hear from you..."
L'échange est amical, mais j'ai rarement rencontré cette expression dans une correspondance. Pensez-vous qu'il soit très croyant ou est-ce un usage courant dans les pays anglophones ?
Merci d'avance pour vos lumières et vos suggestions !

peace of the lord
Que Dieu te bénisse

Explanation:
Cela semble plus approprié pour saluer quelqu'un.

Example sentence(s):
  • Bonjour mon fils, que Dieu te bénisse, t\'es-tu confessé aujourd\'hui ?

disagree  B D Finch: Wishing someone peace is not the same as wishing them to be blessed.

disagree  AllegroTrans: Not the same phrase at all and why should a translator make a decision on "appropriateness" instead of translating the source text?

Asker, this may not be common in some EN-speaking countries but it would be perfectly acceptable for a Christian person to write it.

As B D Finch points out, this truncated dstyle is not "wrong" in any way and implies familarity. There is no need to repeat the more formal words used in the liturgy or the "sign of peace" in Christan church services.

agree  B D Finch: That reflects the truncated style of the original, which implies familiarity and shared attitudes between the writer and addressee.
