Hello,

"La liqueur Mandarine est produite par les frères liquoristes depuis 1994" There is no other mention of them in the small paragraph I have, the rest is about how the liqueur tastes.

I can't find any reference to the "frères liquoristes", How bad does the "liqueur-making brothers" sound? :)

agree with Monks Since the French culture is intertwined with catholicism and herb manufacturing and since monks in general are known for brewing beer and such, I don't think that the "frères liquoristes" could be mistaken for relatives. @writeaway It does indeed seem to be Abbaye de Lérins. But it would be an unsafe assumption if it is not clear from the source text. As for the role of the abbey, many of these liqueurs have been made for centuries, so they are associated with the abbey rather than a particular set of monks/friars.

I don't see how the abbey plays a role anyway. Frères is friars in the context. Of course they are monks.

name of the liqueur? Perhaps you can deduce which abbey it is from the name of the liqueur, which would explain, as Tony says, why the writer says "les frères" as if they have already been mentioned. "...made by the monks at XXX abbey since...".

Pretty bad! I find it curious that the writer says 'les frères...' as if they have been mentioned before.

Otherwise, I'd just say '... by the brothers', as it's perfectly clear they make liqueur!

Could these be monks? Like Chartreuse?
