My feeling is it would be best to leave it as historical record of severe weather events in the bay of Cadiz. You could perhaps insert maritime before the word weather. The 'Durante epocas historicas' is already understood.

'Record' is fine. But it would make more sense with a little embellishment, like adding 'long'.
