Merci Françoise. J'ai finalement opté pour "me reprendre main", c'est peut-être un peu fort mais c'est l'idée générale du texte. Hélas je n'ai pas le temps de laisser reposer, j'aurais préféré...

On trouve aussi "put on pants with a zipper and a button" (donc c'est bien l'idée illustrée par "Riesling"). Reste à trouver une formule idiomatique. Quelque chose comme se reprendre en main, reprendre sa vie en main ? C'est peut-être trop.

on pourrait envisager quelque chose comme "m'habiller correctement" ou encore "me prendre en main" (i.e. 'to get a grip'), bref, un acte qui montre la détermination à ne pas se laisser abattre.

Ok merci Riesling je vois où vous voulez en venir. Si on garde cette idée de "pantalon", je dirais en français quelque chose comme : "Voir la femme exemplaire qu’elle représente pour tant de gens me pousse à enfiler autre chose qu'un jogging et sortir de chez moi." Qu'en pensez-vous ? Merci

I understand the phrase as referring to an actual pair of trousers; with the narrator making a certain effort to put on something more structured and less casual than a pair of sweatpants (or similar pair of trousers with an elasticated waist).

You could use the negated antonym technique and translate it as "un pantalon qui n'est pas un jogging"
