Testo teatrale israeliano (per la messa in scena e non per la pubblicazione). Dialogo tra un attore di teatro e alcuni gangsters. L'attore non sa che i gangsters sono veri gangster e nota la loro pistola.

A: Wow! look at that revolver. (takes the gun and begins to play with it, causing the gangsters to hold their breath) What a prop.
B: A what?
A: A prop- a stage property- it looks so real. Where did you get it?

La mia proposta:

A; Wow, che revolver. (prende la pistola e comincia a giocarci, facendo trattenere il respiro ai gangster) Che accessorio.
B: Cosa?
A: Un accessorio – un accessorio di scena – sembra proprio vero. Dove l’avete preso?

Explanation:
There's no actual Italian term for the word "prop". It's equivalent in Italian is "materiale/accessorio di scena" which is actually the definition of the original word.

I'd rather use "materiale/accessorio di scena" instead of just using "accessorio" which is a very general term and does not fully denote what "prop" is.

Suggestion:
A; Wow, che revolver. (prende la pistola e comincia a giocarci, facendo trattenere il respiro ai gangster) Che accessorio/materiale di scena.
B: Cosa?
A: Un accessorio/materiale di scena – come nei film e teatro – sembra proprio vero. Dove l’avete preso?

Wow, davvero un facsimile realistico


Explanation:
Usando "facsimile" (nel senso di "riproduzione", "replica") secondo me ha più senso che la risposta sia "A what?", vista la peculiarità del termine e il suono in italiano, sul modello del "prop" inglese.

Ultima frase: "A prop- a stage property- it looks so real. Where did you get it?" > "Un facsimile. Una riproduzione usata per la rappresentazione. Sembra proprio vera... Dove l'hai presa?"
