French term

la prise en charge

French to English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation Paragliding

the feeling of lift / how the wing feels as it begins to lift you

Assuming your source text is about paragliding, I would say 'prise en charge' refers at the moment at which the wing has inflated and begins to pull you upwards, as you run forwards, just before take-off.
A paragliding website says in French "La prise en charge intervient très tôt" and renders this in English as "produces a lot of lift" (see link below)
Another renders "Elle possède des qualités de gonflage et de prise en charge indéniables" as "It has undeniable inflating and lifting qualities" (see link)

Actually, 'begins to lift' is not quite accurate; it would be ¡begins to pull you upwards' because at this moment ('the prise en charge', literally when the paraglider takes hold of you) your feet would still be on the ground - but you're starting to feel lighter.

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : feeling of lift ; as it starts to lift (without the "you") ; or "feeling as lift is generated".

thanks, true that you can cut out 'you', and 'generated' is good

(feeling of) control

The feeling of being in control, of being in charge of the operation of the equipment. That is how I understand your sentence.
