French term
en eux-mêmes
French to English
Other
General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I am putting this under 'general' but think it might get moved. Anyhow, this is driving me mad. It is in a patent and keeps cropping up and I keep ignoring it! Is it just stylistic or does it really mean something?!
This is a patent for a "Monolithic microwave integrated circuit packages in a case".
Example:
La fermeture peut être réalisé par tous moyens classiques **en eux-mêmes.**
Variant:
Le collage est réalisé de manière classique **en elle-même**
I would normally just go for 'in itself'/'in themselves' but this doesn't seem to work here or add anything to the sentence.
Thanks in advance! :)

i.e. without the need for anything else (in this ST)
BTW it sounds like a slightly unusual way of using "en eux-mêmes" / "en elle-même", so the standard/usual/normal translation sounds odd.

this is all I can come up with

That's economic protectionism, which is per se unconstitutional. C'est du ... Les actes de terrorisme ne sont pas en eux-mêmes un phénomène nouveau.

: the French in this context is also in the singular. rather casual language for a patent, dontchatink?t

French term (edited):
classiques en eux-mêmes
essentially by conventional means/ in a conventional manner
"de manière classique en elle-même " seems to be "conventionally" translated as "in the standard/conventional manner i.e., not part of the patent

Discussion
"... réalisé de manière //classique en elle-même"
This seems to work better in the first than in the second instance, but we don't know what follows "en elle-même" and that might not just be a full stop.
