Guidance for patients who are asylum seekers
You need an HC2 certificate to be entitled to free prescriptions. If you are an asylum seeker supported by NASS (National Asylum Support
Service) you should already have one of these. If not, you will need to apply for one by completing form HC1 which you can get from the
nearest Job Centre. The Refugee Council also has these forms with a special envelope so that they can be dealt with more quickly.

The HC81 patient information leaflet explains how you may get help with the cost of your prescriptions. Please ask your pharmacist for a leaflet, or you can download a copy from the NHS CFSMS website: www.cfsms.nhs.uk.
