Italian term

Sedente

Italian to English Law/Patents Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs Inheritance certificate
sedente con la segretaria,

this is the opening line in the text of a Swiss Italian inheritence certificate.
It seems formulaic refering to the Pretore "sitting" with the secretary ruling on an application
What is the correct English for this?
TIA for any input
Proposed translations (English)
