Der Wechselschuldner kann dem Wechselgläubiger Einwendungen aus dem Grundgeschäft entgegenhalten, wenn sich Gläubiger und Schuldner gegenüberstehen.

Non mi è chiaro il senso di sich gegenüberstehen. Intendono dire che è possibile sollevare eccezioni solo se creditore e debitore si confrontano??? Grazie.
