Spanish term or phrase: La pasta de dientes pica
This is what a tiny kid would say the first time you give him minty toothpaste with a strong flavour. What would an English speaking kid say, "my tongue itches?" it doesn't really seem to go in this context!

(The toothpaste burns my tongue, but if the fact that the child is being given a new toothpaste is already established, "it" would sound more natural and spontaneous.)

-> Thanks, Charles. Kids have a fixation about things that are hot and that burn (in part because adults instill it in them early). To me, mosquito bites itch. If a small child says his tongue itches, it probably means that it's numb.

the toothpaste is spicy!

Explanation:
well, it's not a definitive answer, and a bit of an idiosyncratic one, but it's exactly what my 7 year old said. She's got a good vocabulary but this was the only word she could find to express that feeling.

it's a typical kid's answer in that respect - 'wrong' but expressing a child's attempt to find a word to describe a new sensation.

what is the translation for?

The toothpaste hurts my mouth

Explanation:
Ugh, it hurts!

I don't think stinging, burning, etc., are quite right for the harsh, assertive effect of some toothpastes -
I don't like strong toothpaste either. Also, when it does hurt, it hurts various areas of the mouth
