Italian term

Circolo della Buona Forchetta

Italian to English Marketing Food & Drink restaurant description
I have a deadline this afternoon and I was hoping anybody who might be interested would offer a possible translation to this name of a place in Venice I have come up with the "The Hungry Club" but Maybe someone has a better idea.

Discussion

Mailand Mar 22, 2011:
Is it supposed to be an explanation or a translation?
Cedric Randolph (asker) Mar 22, 2011:
gourmet is too formal This is a tiny little eatery seating 15 and with a very informal local atmosphere

The Merry Eater / Merry Eaters Club

If 'gourmet' is too formal, perhaps this would work.

The name is inspired by the Happy Eater roadside chain, which closed in 1996, see below:

:-) Raffaela
neutral Oliver Lawrence : too close to "Happy Eater", which is a chain of down-market restaurants in the UK

The reference was intentional and it closed down in 1996, as I mentioned (see above), though perhaps it IS too close.
agree P.L.F. Persio : it's cheeky and snappy;-)

What do you think about this idea?

(see also Wikipedia for reference)

agree P.L.F. Persio : this is lovely!

thank you!
neutral Oliver Lawrence : possibly too 'trendy' for a modest eatery

Thanks, might be, but I don't know the place and 'informal' doesn't necessarily mean 'modest'

And how do you like Trencherman instead of gourmet?
Peer comment(s):

agree Daniela Zambrini : I like Gourmet Society!! (forse perché anche io sono una buona forchetta?) /// also thought of "gourmand" (goloso) instead of gourmet, to keep the link with buona forchetta. Not sure though if it might have a negative connotation (as in greedy). Gnam!

grazie Daniela, allora siamo in due!

neutral Oliver Lawrence : as the Asker says, too formal/upmarket

thank you, Oliver; he should have said that before, anyway. Always give the whole context, we can't read the asker's mind!

sorry - add the word club anonymous or whatever you like. The only thing is that if it is the name of an eatery I would leave it in Italian
