This is actually a typo for the OsSC - Osservatorio Nazionale sulla Sperimentazione Clinica dei Medicinali (National Clinical Trials Database). CROs, sponsors and ethics committees (and in this case clearly also investigators) are all required to complete certain sections relating to a particular trial.

Only one typo really - Italians often just capitalise the first letter of any abbreviation, as I'm sure you know.

I can see why you're dubious if OsSC is reported correctly in other parts of the same file. As Mihaela suggests, perhaps you should check with the client in that case.

BTW, the "official" English translation depends on which page of the OsSC you refer to! In the English version of the page I first linked to, they use "National Monitoring Centre for Clinical Trials":

| I like to be 100 % sure of myself before suggesting a client has made a mistake though I think you are probably right here! Also I never ask clients questions as there are so many intermediaries between the person who may have made a mistake and myself. I just use red print and and asterisk when I send back the translation. |

Di quale Osservatorio si tratti, puoi vederlo tu dal ctx, anche se propendo per l'idea di Marie-Hélène. Traducendo con 'Observatory', in ogni caso, IMO nn sbagli. Buon lavoro, Anna Rosa :)
