boiled Potatoes, hard boiled eggs, green peas, Mayo, salt, some spices, black pepper, shredded chicken, mustard,[ some people even add chopped hot dog, which is nicely roasted or cooked on fire, with no fat or grease)

Discussion
We usually read it without a kasre. It is treated as a main course in Iranian dishes, and is not a side meal as it would be assumed because of the word سالاد in it.
It has no Arabic background at all. It looks to me that the meal should have its origin in the West, but I couldn't find an exact presentation of it at least in the UK.

to pronounce it, depends on what part of the country you are, if you are a Persian Speaking it is pronounced, as Olviyeh, of you are from Azerbaijan ( Oliviyeh ) ....depends
Any ideas on etymology at all, by any chance? The word looks Arabic to me.
