Persian (Farsi) term

به درستی

Non-PRO Persian (Farsi) to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Autobiography - جرأت کردم او را پدر بخوانم\\\\
Greetings,

I'm not sure of the exact force of به درستی here:
پس دیگر اسرار نکردم، مخصوصا که مطمئن بودم خودم این رسم را به درستی انجام داده‌ام

To give some context: earlier on Belqeis has taken the radical decision to baptize herself. (There are possible theological grounds for this measure in these truly exceptional circumstances but I won't go into them unless someone specifically asks me to.)

When, surprisingly and against expectation, a baptism ceremony is arranged for her by the church in Pakistan, she is disappointed to find out that they will only be sprinkling her and the others rather than immersing them. She suggests that they use a river nearby but this is impractical as the weather is bitterly cold.

Which leads to the thought: پس دیگر اسرار نکردم، مخصوصا که مطمئن بودم خودم این رسم را به درستی انجام داده‌ام

All the best, and many thanks,

Simon

Sep 29, 2010 09:44: Farzad Akmali changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Mohammad Reza Razaghi, Reza Rostamzadeh Khosroshahi, Farzad Akmali

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

This is what I have often seen in English to express what we mean as به درستی in Persian. However, I think I should add, dear Simon, that the word meaning "insistence" in your Persian sentence is spelt like this :اصرار
Kind Regards,
Narges
