Italian term

defunzionalizzazione

Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature critica letteraria
Frase completa: "Il testo produce un effetto disorientante mediante una continua defunzionalizzazione degli oggetti".
Dopo viene spiegato che nel testo gli orologi non segnano mai l'ora esatta, due pietre sono il correlativo di alcune persone e discutono tra loro, e così via.
Ho provato con "defunctionalization", ma questo termine è usato in tutt'altro ambito e non trovo riscontri in campo umanistico. Suggerimenti?

Another example related to Dada:

Ready-made: the translation of an everyday object into art by means of defunctionalisation, giving it a title, presenting it in an exhibition context etc.

And one from an artist of our days:

I'm fascinated by the oxidising process and the acceptance of loss in the repetition of defunctionalisation and recontextualisation.

defunctionalisation

I would have no problems with reading "defunctionalisation" in this context. It works perfectly well as a scientific concept (see links below)

malfunction

I understand 'defunzionalizzazione' as watch malfunction due to some kind of split functions or unsynced functions
Peer comment(s):

disagree Y. Peraza : This has nothing to do with the concept, and in addition it makes no sense in the sentence offered by the asker.
