Apple vs Windows terminology
A previous Kudoz entry tells me that in Windows this is *My Computer*. What is it in Apple? I get *Desktop*, but I cannot find enough confirmation. Is this correct? One source said it might be HD.
Das Telefon erscheint als Wechseldatenträger auf dem *Arbeitsplatz*.

Positive. Every new drive shows up on Apple's desktop.

There is no equivalent to the "my computer" "place" in Windows. Apple shows the name of the main hard drive on the desktop together with all the other installed drives. Depending on your installation, it can have different names, the most common being: "Macintosh HD".

So...to summarize, new drives show up in two places: on the desktop and under the "devices" list that opens up when clicking on the main hard drive on the desktop (normally named "Macintosh HD").

Note from asker:
Hmm, thank you - a friend who uses Apple was sure it had to be Desktop. Thanks. |
