"Universe games"
Those are the computer games that are played in some make-believe "universes" that you build up as you go, such as the "Civilisation" game or "Ages of Empire", etc. Some are called "Persistent Universe" games, as the games are played over the internet and the universe continues to evolve even when the player is not playing and even if he/she is offline.
Here is a website about the "Red Dwarf Universe" game:

And here is one about the "Starzy Sky Universe" game.

"The DC Universe Roleplaying Game is finally here."

You can find many others. Hope this helps.

Comment: "Thanks Dauphine
I thought the answer might be universe or universal games but I didn't know what universal games were. Your anwer was very thorough. Thanks again."

universal games
It sounds like a French adaptation of the term "universal games".
See for example:
"Universal Adventure Programming
Adventure activities provide all of us with an opportunity to challenge ourselves physically and emotionally. This workshop will help participants build Adventures for people with and without disabilities. We will introduce you to universal programming, games and initiatives and help you to develop a process for creating universal games and initiatives."

Universal Games
Obviously an attempt at translating the American name above into French.

world games or international games
I would establish a relation with the words: leaders du marché and univers which may lead to the meaning of international level therefore I would forward: world games or international games although universal games sounds proper as well. And taking it on a trade line, why not: the games of the planet or even the web games.
Hope it makes sense.

"jeux d'univers"
It's me again. Just to add that in case jeux d'univers appears between inverted commas in the text I would suggest to leave it as it is, perhaps the author wish to keep the expression as it is.

star games
in analogy to star wars

A thought from left field
I realize that this is pretty far out, but here it is for what it is worth:
Could it be that the hapless writers of this passage meant for "d'univers" to refer not to "jeux," but to "l'un des leaders du marché"?
If so, then we are not talking about "universe games" or "world games," but about "one of the world leaders of the market of..."
I know this is quite a stretch, but I just could not resist it. Or maybe I am the hapless one.

"war of the worlds games" / "world conquest games"
I understand it as being a reference to classic games like "Risk" where you have to battle to conquer the world.
The French in the sentence presented is of too high a quality for us to indulge in believing that this is an "anglicisme".

adventure/role-playing games
Quoted from a site discussing Kalisto (a video game developer):
"Historiquement, les jeux sont répartis selon les sept catégories suivantes : plates-formes, action, univers [aventure/RPG (jeu de rôles)], stratégie, sport, course et simulation."
Kalisto mentions "jeux d'univers" on its French pages but I couldn't find a reference to "universal games" on their English pages. They do mention "real-time adventure" games though...
Can you ask your client for examples of specific games they would classify as "jeux d'univers"? Or does the text provide such examples elsewhere? Knowing the exact game (or examples of similar games) in question would make it easier to give a definite answer.
Hope this helps!
