Explanation:
A mi entender el sentido es otro que el que interpreta el compañero. "Dance-off" como una demostración o un alarde de buen baile. No sé si la palabra se deriva de "show-off", pero no me extrañaría.

agree  Wil Hardman (X): yes this is the meaning, a dance battle to see who has the best moves, not just between two people, it could be a whole group of people. I occasionaly partake in the odd dance-off... great fun!
