No se trata de las gorras usadas en la pelicula. Se trata de una gorra negra con el 'logo' de la pelicula.

si vas a traducirlo mejor pon el nombre de la pelicula en español, y entre parentesis el nombre de la peli en ingles. No todos los personajes tienen gorros, solo en el caso de tu personaje que tenia uno... de hecho en la peli no hay casi nadie que use...

I aggree with you partially. In this case, this film is not as famous as others like "Gone with the wind", for example. And I would never leave the title in English in a translation because the readers would not understand it. I get your point and I agree for some proper nouns, but not this one.
By the way, do all the characters of the film wear caps? I haven't seen it and this is why I do not understand the reference...

a movie entitled "Get Shorty" (in quotation marks).....that way , there is no confusion...and as you stated the meaning gets watered down in translation at times when you attempt to translate such concepts as "get shorty" or "Teflon"
