I think the Discovery Channel is English, so I think this should be "program*ME*, shouldn't it? We do accept "program", but only in connection with computers.

excellent or advanced equipment

The programme in question deals with large or specialised equipment, ususally at the cutting edge of engineering or used for extreme tasks. It has featured, for example giant trucks from super-quarries, the latest ships and planes, supercars, hovercraft, amphibious cars etc. It's basically a gadget show for big boys' toys.
