1- as per context macular is a the central part of the retina . So it is better to be translated as شبكية
2- aged- related in the context means as a result of progression in age= becomes very old

The greatest risk factor is age. Although AMD may occur during middle age, studies show that people over age 60 are clearly at greater risk than other age groups. For instance, a large study found that people in middle-age have about a 2 percent risk of getting AMD, but this risk increased to nearly 30 percent in those over age 75.

إن احد مراحل ضمور الشبيكة وموت الخلايا الحساسة للضوء بالشبكية هو ما يسمى ب " الضمور البقعى الشبكي
المرتبط بتقدم العمر " فما رايكم بأن يكون هذا هو اخر المقترحات حول ترجمة المصطلح ؟؟؟

اخى الحبيب ايهاب ما رايك باستبدال كلمة العينى بكلمة الشبكى على اعتبار انه مجاز مرسل فالبقعة جزء من الشبكية والشبكية جزء من العين فلو قلنا بقعى شبكى اعطت المعنى الدقيق ... ما رأيكم ؟؟

The leading cause of BLB and BLLV was cataract. Refractive error was the second major cause of BLLV. Other common causes were diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Age-related macular degeneration was the single cause of BLB and BLLV for only 1.6% and 2.8% respectively. A population-based survey of BLB and BLLV in the elderly, yearly vision examinations and an ophthalmic education programme are recommended.
