MetaTexis
I'm venturing into the world of CAT tools for the first time and using MetaTexis. Trouble is, my instructions are in German and I'm using the English version of MS Word 2002. I don't know what Seitenansicht is (page preview?) and can't find the MetaTexis Befehlszeile Navigation, Versteckten Text anzeigen. I also have the English manual but that's not helping me either. What I want to do is edit my translation without the German text showing and without "cleaning" it.
1. gehen sie in word in die Seitenansicht; oder 2. in der Metatexis Befehlszeile /Navigation / Versteckten Text anzeigen/ausblenden... achten Sie darauf, dass in Word die Funktion "zeichen einblenden/ausblenden" deaktiviert ist (sehen Sie hier mein kurzes PDF-Manual).
Nach Beendingung der Übersetzung ist
das Worddokument zweisprachig. Für
eine Rechtschreib- und
Grammatikkontrolle muss folgende
Prozedur durchgeführt werden:
Das Textdokument öffnen (ohne
Wordfast, bzw. Wordfast schliessen). Der
Text erscheint zweisprachig.
Ansicht auf Seitenansicht wechseln und
Zeichen wie Absatzmarken, Leerschläge,
etc. ausblenden
In der Seitenansicht die Funkion
„Lupe“ deaktivieren (auf diese Weise
kann man in der Seitenansicht direkt auf
das Dokument zugreifen).

print layout view
In Word in Office XP, Seitenansicht refers to the Seitenansicht-Leiste in the bottom left corner of the window. There, you have buttons for Normal, Web Layout View, Print Layout View, and Outline View. The Print Layout View is the view of your document where it looks the way it will when it prints--but it is completely editable. Now, "Print Preview" is an option from under the File menu, but that is *not* an editable view of the page, so I very strongly do not think that is what is meant here because your instructions have to do with editing with MetaTexis in what is in fact called Print Layout View.
As far as MetaTexis goes, my installation has only one toolbar associatd with that software. If you go under View > Toolbars, it is called "MetaTexis."
However, MetaTexis does install a dropdown menu from the topmost command bar, to the right of the Help dropdown menu. From that menu, there is MetaTexis > Navigation > Show Hidden Text On/Off. That is surely what your context means.
Hope that helps!

Comment: "Many thanks to all of you. In this case, Seitenansicht was either print preview (which is editable, by the way) or the MetaTexis Navigation - show hidden text on/off. Both methods will allow editing without cleaning. "

page preview
Hi Kim!
I think page preview is right. It's the view in Word where you can see the page centered on your screen with a gray area around it. You can find it in Word 2003 under File, and then pretty far down in that list.

page view
I have always known it in English as "page view".

I think page preview may be the correct translation, but it probably won't help you here - the function you're looking for should be under "options" in Word - if you go to Tools > options > view > formatting marks. There you can select or unselect "Hidden marks". I hope that helps.

Sorry, I meant "hidden text".

side-view
Hallo Kim, da es sich um ein Cat -Tool handelt und um techn. Zeichnungen geht, heisst es:side view
Example sentence:
the top view, the front view
Something went wrong...
