French term

pigeonner

French to English Art/Literary Cosmetics, Beauty bust enhancer
From the description of a bust enhancer (of all things!):

Avec ce nouveau soin tenseur pour un décolleté à la hauteur, les laboratoires XYZ réussissent à défier les lois de la gravité.
Un soin enchanteur pour bichonner sa poitrine et la faire pigeonner.

The only use of this term that I'm familiar with is rather slang, meaning to be had or taken for a ride. Petit Bob also says it can mean something that is built by pigeons - again, not really helpful here!
Any ideas?? Otherwise, I'm going to go with something like "plump up", like the way a pigeon plumps up its feathers to keep warm.
Proposed translations (English)
3 +3 make plump/plump up
4 +5 lift

Cervin Oct 10, 2006:
It really is worth following the link 'escentual.co.uk' it is quite funny!I was going to copy & paste it here but it's a bit long. It contains a sort of survey from women who have used the cream with results such as 'firmer', 'plumper' larger!!!!!!
Cervin Oct 10, 2006:
...The most seductive asset a woman can have is a pretty décolleté that is both plump and firm.Based on the observation that the bust is essentially ma... Read more at escentual.co.uk ..
Mind boggling, eh, Bourth!
Cervin Oct 10, 2006:
I am sure you could use 'plump' or plumping. There were quite a few ghits from typing in 'bust plumping' See:

Bourth (X) Oct 10, 2006:
Biche-onner, pigeon-ner. There's a lot of animal imagery in there.
Bourth (X) Oct 10, 2006:
Watch it girls! I bet it's a boy pigeon in the picture above.
Rachel Fell Oct 10, 2006:
here's something that seems to confirm your idea: http://correcteurs.blog.lemonde.fr/correcteurs/2005/03/pushu...
French Foodie (asker) Oct 10, 2006:
Yes, Rachel, I think that's the look they're going for. All the magic of one little cream!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "while I think lift could have worked too (as in a soutien-gorge pigeonnant), lift appears elsewhere in the text, so I went with this - also more in line with the pigeon image. Thanks to all!"

lift

Robert & Collins gives
ce soutien-gorge fait pigeonner les seins : this bra pushes the breasts up

I would use the verb "lift"

The word 'lift' has connotations of plastic surgery.
It may or may not be what you want
