He preguntado a una amiga traductora pública en Argentina y me contestó lo siguiente:

«Acá a los abogados se los llama Dr. o sea Doctor en Ciencias Jurídicas y Sociales. Por ejemplo, Dr. Juan Pérez (abogado). Los abogados en Argentina no son licenciados, ni tampoco usamos Don en este caso.

Explanation:
En la Argentina se los llama doctor por más que no tengan el doctorado en leyes. Es uso y costumbre.
Después de terminado el proceso y cuando hay que pagarles se les llama de maneras que no se pueden escribir en un sitio público ;-)

en algunos lugares se los trata directamente de "abogado". Ej: El abogado López presentó su escrito...
