Maintenant encore, dans cet avion qui m'emmène vers toi. le ressouvenir de cette émotion me trouble.

Has anybody encountered this word (as a noun) before? I'm certain it means "memory" or "recollection," but am interested to hear others' ideas about why the author uses this word, as opposed to plain old "souvenir."

Hello,

"Se ressouvenir" is to remember something has been forgotten. In other words, it's been recalled to the mind (think of again). That said, "remember" can sometimes mean just "to retain in the mind" (I remember his address). Well, in French, "se ressouvenir" corresponds to "rappeler"(remind, recall), which is used commonly nowadays. "Se souvenir (le souvenir) corresponds more to "to remember" (retain in the mind). There is a distinction to be made between the "le souvenir" and "le ressouvenir."

It's late here, so maybe I'm not thinking clearly. LOL

In other words, "to remember again, that which has been forgotten."
There is a difference in meaning between "le souvenir" and "le ressouvenir", I'm afraid. It means to recall a memory.
