French term

complexeur

French to English Other Business/Commerce (general) Company departments
The term is used in an English text I am translating into German, that originates from a French client. I guess the author either overlooked the word or didn't know himself what to use in English.

"The team consisted of Philippe XX (XXX manager), Christian XX (production manager), Stéphane XX (**complexeur**), and Sébastien XX (XXX manager)."

Discussion

Martine Brault Dec 29, 2005:
@ John: I think you are on the right track, as all other personnel listed are managers. You already have a Production manager; unless the laminating area is independent, he could also be a supervisor.
Charlotte Allen Dec 29, 2005:
Whoops! In that case, I take it all back ;-)
John Jory (asker) Dec 29, 2005:
@ traviata My French isn't too good ;-)
But I believe your ref "OBS complexe : Matriau obtenu ..." is close to what I'm looking for. Could Stphane XX possibly be the guy in charge of the machine/department that manufactures the composite panels?
John Jory (asker) Dec 29, 2005:
@ Charlotte The company manufactures composite (laminated) panels.

complex manager

It's difficult to say without the details that you are having to keep secret to protect your client's identity, but I would be surprised if 'complexeur' was intended to refer to a laminating machine operator here, given that all the other job titles are management level. I am taking a wild guess at 'complex manager' purely on intuition, really. I think this is a case of 'ask the client', though, in the end.
