以上

Japanese to English Other Other
「…。しかしこれらの発生頻度に、薬物による影響は求められなかった。
 以上、ニルバジピンをマウスに0.1%まで飼料添化して22ヶ月間傾向的に与えても異常な腫瘍の発生はなく、また通常見られる腫瘍の増加も来さなかった。」

この「以上」の訳し方に迷っています・・・

Moreover, As you see above

use your translator intuition (see below)

It can roughly mean things such as:

As shown/described above...
Thus....
In conclusion...
In closing...
In this way...

etc. etc.

...or sometimes it can be left out.

neutral Maynard Hogg : Not "sometimes". I'd say always. Sentence-initial adverbs are a dead giveaway for word-for-word translations. Then, again, it's a Japanese client paying the bills, so...

disagree humbird : Sorry Kurt, it doesn't fly. This is not a conclusion word. Quite contrray, sentence continues.

agree casey : Hmmm. I'd have to agree with Kurt. It looks fairly unnecessary to me.

省いてもいいかもしれない, but if you really want a 'connector', just use something like "Thereafter,..." or Following this,... etc.

Still very commonly used in textbooks and this kind of academic paper, I'm afraid...
disagree humbird : Your answer is not correct. Besides, this 以上 must be trnslatoed, not be omitted. Please see my answer.
