E-mail on its own is more than enough in most cases.
Skype and phone are the exception rather than the rule.
I see them primarily as a back-up for urgent communication, which is occasionally helpful!

It depends Jun 3, 2013

Typically I like e-mail because I can answer when and where I want, in addition to the benefit of creating an automatic record of the conversations.

Some of my clients are a little less structured, so in person communication or by phone is the best option. In these cases I try to keep good notes on everything that we discuss and I later send them a short written summary to make sure that I got everything and so that I can "cover my rear."

Well in that case we should throw in telepathy.

Personally, I prefer the Vulcan mind meld.
But customers don't appreciate the touchy feely side of this interaction.

Missing - knock on the door? Jun 4, 2013

I wish my clients would just drop in home with their work.

However, that seems a fantasy, as they are located seven seas across from me. So the next best to a knock on the door is email for me.

If a client turned up on my doorstep, it would freak me out! :-/
