looking for new French literature

Hi everyone,
I'm a new member at Proz.com. I am graduating from college this winter and will be working on my Magna cum Laude project this semester, part of which will, hopefully, be a tranlsation. I am looking for a French short story that has not yet been translated into English, by an author who wouldn't mind a novice taking a crack at tranlsating his/her work. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much for any help, and I look forward to getting to know y'all here!

"L'Ecume des Jours" is really my favorite novel and I am afraid that it has never been translated in English (pls correct me if I am wrong).

If you really "can" translate it in English you really will deserve a "Cum Laude" because :

1/- It is rather "tough" to translate.
2/- You will enable to discover this wonderful novel (but a short story according to american standards) to millions of english speaking people.
