Dear colleagues.

With the new Service agreement function on Proz.com, I would like to know how many people use it.

I find that some agencies refuse to sign any individual agreements from translators.
I do find that most agencies will tell the translator their terms and conditions, which makes me wonder if service agreements are needed.

You? Or your clients?

Service Agreements should be provided by the service-provider - i.e., you - not by the buyer. And they must be formulated in accordance with the relevant laws, rules and regulations of your country, not the client's country. If the buyer doesn't like your terms, or can't live with the rules imposed by the legislation of your commercial domicile, let him spend his money elsewhere.

They do, but there are so many agencies out there, it is simply a case of finding those worth working for.

They're needed when you work for direct clients. Agencies are not the whole picture.

My 2 cents.
