Hi!

I have Trados 7.1.0 719 and Word 2002 SP3 (and XP), and with certain files Word closes down and reopens all the time. I have read previous contributions on Proz, but that has not helped me. I received a file that kept on closing down on my stationary, but it worked fine on my notebook (with same OS, Office and Trados). Maybe the best thing would be to buy Word 2003 instead. They seem to be more compatible.

Another strange thing that has happened lately is that Workbench is closing down. I downloaded a tm for a particular job, and workbench closed down when I used the concordance function. I tried to open it on my notebook and the same thing happened there. Reorganizing the tm doesn't help. The pm said the memory worked fine there.

I've had these problems for quite a while now and they are driving me crazy. Any help would be very much appreciated. ▲ Collapse

try to delete/ rename the normal.dot, it sounds like something is corrupt.
This could also be caused by
- disk problems (run scandisk)
- memory issues (too many TSRs, programs and other tools)
- new anitvirus signatures/ or Antivirus in general
(try shutting down as many applications as possible and see if your problem still occurs)

Hello,
I had the same problem about two weeks ago. I contacted Trados assistance, but they didn't solve my problem.
Anyway, I tried averything: run scandisk, closed all other files and programs, but at the end it was only that file, so I think maybe it was corrupted. Maybe you should delete normal.dot files

With other files it didn't happen any more.

Thanks a lot for answering me! I've tried to delete the normal.dot (it is usually hiding in the application data/microsoft/template), and the TESpellChkTmp, and also all the files except for the autostart ones in word (application data/microsoft/word). When I tried to run scan disk it didn't work, an error message saying that it can't open the volyme for direct access. Then I tried to open it from command line, and the same thing happened.
