One. Sep 4, 2011

One per computer, that is. On rare occasions I have to use two laptops side-by-side because certain moronic CAT-tools don't allow me to open two files at once.

Two Sep 4, 2011

One for actually conducting the translation and another attached to a printer/scanner, which can also be used as a backup in the event of technical problems arising with my main computer.

...but sometimes I plug my big monitor to my laptop and use (technically) two (but actually still one, since I disable laptop's screen), especially when I work on subtitling or proofreading.

I did work with two monitors in the past and I really loved it. It is really great to have a lot of space when you are working with 3-4 applications.

One for the text I work on, the other one for all my research work (Internet, dictionaries...). I also tend to proofread using two screens.
Have a nice Sunday

One is enough Sep 4, 2011

One monitor is enough so far. Actually, however, I want to buy a bigger one, replacing my 15 inch monitor.

Two! Sep 4, 2011

Would not go back to one, it's just more efficient with two, I don't have to lower windows as often and it makes comparing texts soooo much easier.

Been working on a laptop with 1 screen for last 2 months and how do I miss my dual set-up.

on one computer. Two 32" monitors for main DTP and a third for ref material.

It is fantastic not to keep having to switch between windows as I frequently have a few tasks running at the same time

One, sometimes two (this option was not offered) Sep 5, 2011

I use one desktop computer, with many windows open at the same time, but I try to close them as soon as they become useless, according to the recommendations of my computer technician.

I also turn on my laptop when I need a specialized translating dictionary which I could install only twice from a CD-rom. I installed it on my desktop and on my laptop. Then it crashed on my desktop when I moved out. I have not been able to use it on my desktop PC since I moved out, while all my other programs have kept working properly!

For backups, I use an external hard disk. I used to do backups several times a week. Now I have set an Outlook Calender reminder to do it every week-end, when I have more time (less emergencies).

One, but I need a second one Sep 5, 2011

Since I switched to Windows 7, I've been having a lot of trouble stabilizing the open windows. They seem to have a mind of their own. In this regard, I was must happier with Windows XP.

The screen is 22". I couldn't work with anything smaller since I've gotten used to being able to see two full pages in readable type at the same time.

Two or Three Sep 5, 2011

Two, sometimes three monitors. I'm a pathological multi-tasker.
