English to Spanish: Alexander Solzhenitsyn Nobel Lecture (Excerpt) General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English A work of art contains its verification in itself; artificial, strained concepts do not withstand the test of being turned into images; they fall to pieces, turn out to be sickly and pale, convince no one. Works which draw on truth and present it to us in live and concentrated form grip us, compellingly involve us, and no one ever, not even ages hence, will come forth to refute them.
Translation - Spanish Una obra de arte contiene su verificación en sí misma; conceptos artificiales y forzados no sobreviven la prueba de ser convertidos en imágenes; se caen en pedazos, resultan ser enfermizos y pálidos, no convencen a nadie. Obras que toman la verdad y nos la presentan en forma viva y concentrada nos agarran, convincentemente nos involucran, y nadie nunca, ni siquiera en siglos después, vendrá adelante a refutarlas.

Bio
My academic background is in language instruction and acquisition, specifically in Spanish for native speakers or English speakers, and English for speakers of other languages (TESOL). My experience as a language educator and tutor has complemented my work in translation. Language study is my passion, and I strive to provide my clients with excellent work.
I started my translation journey as a volunteer interpreter for Hispanic families in hospitals and medical settings in Baltimore, MD, and Long Island, NY. This experience led to offers to translate medical and legal documents.
While I have translated content from various fields throughout the years, I would like to focus more on work related to educational or academic materials. As an avid reader and amateur writer, I must confess that I enjoy artistic and creative translations the most.
