Nida and Taber (1982:12) say that translating consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalence of a source language message, firstly in terms of meaning and secondly in terms of style.
Would you like to provide me with any other definition or theory about the translation, especially according to your experiences such that enrich my horison of understanding about the same from many point of view.

I completely agree with Nida and Taber. That's why a translator needs to have native or near-native knowledge of the target language and live in that country for many many years to achieve that.

...about foreignizing translation. When we read a translated novel does it sound foreign or has it been domesticated (and the theory behind this).
Another thought on the subject. ..think about Harry Potter ...in different languages, different concepts/names for things and people may have been domesticated or foreignized to a greater or lesser extent ... but the name Harry Potter (so "British") has been foreignized in all translations, that is, it has not been translated, for example... Straying from the main topic, but I just want to give you an interesting tidbit - in Polish translation of Harry Potter Hermione is made into Hermiona (pronounced her-mjo(as in mjolnir)-na) - not a translation per se, but still. Haven't read the books myself, so I don't know if any other names were fiddled with, just thought I'd point this one out. I wonder - was she renamed in other translations too? (I know that in the Japanese one, she is still Hermione, or as close of an approximation of the English pronunciation of it as is achievable with katakana - Japanese phonetic syllabary)

I seem to remember Bilbo Baggins being translated into Spanish as Bilbo Bolsón; there were other 'partial' translations too...not too mention all those songs and poems etc.
