Hello everybody,
I hope someone can help me with a "multiple" issue: I'm using Wordfast pro 2.4.0.1 for Mac.
I'm working on a big project with a colleague using Deja Vu and we are meeting several problems (we are both CAT tools beginners so maybe, hopefully, is just our lack of competence):

1) She exported her TM as .ttx file, I tried to use it and I receive a message "TM header is invalid". I thought I could have merged her memory and mine, so I tried to copy and paste

I thought I could have merged her memory and mine, so I tried to copy and paste her TM into my old one, but have realized that her units are not "considered" by Wordfast.

2) I have exported my glossary and my TM as .txt but on her computer (running Windows) all characters including German umlauts and Italian accented vowels (It's a DE>IT translation) appear as weird symbols such as % and µ....
The strangest thing is tat the same happens to me in the glossary, but not on the TM...

Hope I have managed to explain what's going on...

Thank you again

Federica

TMX Apr 13, 2011

Not sure it will be of help but, shouldn't the format of the exported memory be TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) instead of TTX (a Trados format)?

Looks like encoding issue. WFP exports glossaries as UTF-8, but your colleague’s program seems to read it as an 8-bit encoding. So, she should try to specify UTF-8 when importing your glossary if possible or to convert it to UTF-16 first.

Or try TBX instead of tab-delimited text.

Actually, Wordfast memories are .ttx files, I don't know about Deja Vu, but she managed to export it as ttx. Should she rather send it as .tmx?

Actually, Wordfast TMs have .txt name extension. To minimize problems, ask your colleague to send, yes, TMX files (preferably, level1 to avoid problems with specific entities).

I don't think I can export the TM in TMX format... I just took my TM file as it was (.ttx) and sent it to her

You can export it to TMX by selecting the respective format (translation memory exchange) in the TM export dialog.
