I just got an e-mail from this person, Steve Parks. He posted an ad Proz.com last week asking for freelance German translators. Yes, he is pushing Systran. I'm so glad I googled the name before I replied to him. | |

I am glad I didn't fall for their scam though and told them (nicely..) that I would get the Systran software myself from a local dealer. By affiliate I meant that he received some kind of commission from Systran for the sale of its products (like Amazon affiliates) or was able to purchase the product from Systran at a discounted rate and then resell it to "customers". I never considered the possibility that victims would get no software at all and/or pirated software for their money. I hope that Systran will send him a cease and desist letter.
