... Because they accepted my inflated rates straight away and would have kept me busy with an easy 4000 words per week. I would have made a decent living and rejected all other job offers! If only it didn't smell so fishy!
However, now I'm done with irony, I am feeling quite wary of the fact that I sent this person my CV. That'll teach me not to be so keen on making a good impression with possible clients on the very first exchange of emails.

I just got an e-mail from this person, Steve Parks. He posted an ad Proz.com last week asking for freelance German translators. Yes, he is pushing Systran. I'm so glad I googled the name before I replied to him.

Watch out people...Remember always buy your language software machine from reliable local / trusted internet stores. Not some dodgy so-called company. From what I know and from what I read, this entity never was affiliated to Systran in any way. They just pretend to be.
Furthermore, I seem to remember that Systran have been alerted about the misuse of their name, brand and reputation.

By affiliate I meant that he received some kind of commission from Systran for the sale of its products (like Amazon affiliates) or was able to purchase the product from Systran at a discounted rate and then resell it to "customers". I never considered the possibility that victims would get no software at all and/or pirated software for their money.
I hope that Systran will send him a cease and desist letter.
