"دنیاوی"/"مادی"

To my knowledge the word مادی does not in in itself connote "materialism" or "materialistic." It serves as an adjective, and the word it qualifies determines whether it will mean "materialistic" or not. The English meaning of "materialistic" is "excessively concerned with physical comforts or the acquisition of material things rather than spiritual, intellectual, moral, or cultural values." So Muhammad Riaz sahib has rightly pointed out that مادی خواہشات means "materialistic desires" (which is also what دنیاوی خواہشات means in essence), but مادی ضروریات would simply mean "material/physical needs"...so in my humble opinion, unless we know the exact word مادی is qualifying, we cannot say it means materialistic per say.
