Spanish term

paseras

Spanish to English Marketing Wine / Oenology / Viticulture Grapes
Are "paseras" grapevines or is this a different terminology please?

This is the context: Además, la fina piel de nuestra uva y la ausencia de lluvias en el fin del verano cordobés hacen que Córdoba sea el imperio del vino dulce de pasas PX con miles de hectáreas convertidas cada septiembre en paseras.

Thank you for your help

@Charles Davis Thank you Charles, I found the photos after I posted my comment. I live in Cordoba and could never imagine such an activity.
Charles Davis Apr 18, 2019:
@Eileen Have a look at these photos and imagine that multiplied by all the places in Córdoba where they dry grapes:

paseras (area for sun-drying grapes)

This is the area where the grapes are put to dry in the sun:

Una vez recogida la uva, se deposita en paseras para ser sometida al proceso denominado “Soleo”, colocándolas al aire libre con el objetivo de lograr su pasificación. Esta práctica durará entre siete y quince días, produciendo una pérdida considerable de agua y la consiguiente concentración de azúcar.

There doesn't seem to be a specific term in English:

Once harvested the grapes are spread out on paseras, special sites set aside for drying out the fruit in the sun, a process known as "soleo", or sunning.

Yes, but "miles de hectáreas" does not mean just one plantation, it refers to the Cordoba area. And the text is about vino dulce, so it makes sense.
Note from asker:
Gracias Marie, pero "paseras" ocupan miles de hectareas!! Increible!!

agree Charles Davis : They spread the grapes out on the ground on esparto mats, so they occupy a lot of space. In other parts of the world trellises and racks are often used.
