This is from a description of the installation of high voltage overhead wires that will be part of a solar power generation plant.

They're talking about the calculations for the foundations planned for the line supports.

"...El cálculo de cimentaciones de los apoyos se realizará mediante el método conocido como de *“Conos de arranque de tierras”*"

I found a diagram of a "cono de arranque" that seems to fit this context:

Based on the Diccionario politécnico de las lenguas española e inglesa's entry referring to "ángulo de arranque" at:

I've come up with "clearance cone" for "cono de arranque" (can anyone confirm?), but I don't find any references for "earth" or "ground" "clearance cone".

Any ideas?

Hi Richard,
I think they're not referring to grounding or earthing the lines, but rather analyzing the characteristics of the ground/soil/earth to determine the specifications for the supports' foundations.
I may, however, be totally off base.

Grounding Since you have the tech refs, what you need is the voice of colleagues with experience in the material and I cannot confirm. But I suggest 'grounding/earthing', depending on whether the target country is US or British-based English, rather than 'ground/earth' for this adjective in the phrase.
