Spanish term

Negroides

Spanish to English Medical Cosmetics, Beauty Hair care
I'm having problems with the following sentence, and it's mainly a question of political correctness. This is for hair-care products that will be marketed in Europe and the States.

(Pelo lanoso. Presencia parcial o total de cabellos ensortijados,) de aspecto similar a la lana y negroides, si tener este origen racial.

Any ideas about an acceptable translation, please?

Discussion

Chris Ellison (asker) Jan 18, 2015:
Hi, thanks for the input - I have used Afro-type in the text, so I guess here it works too! ;o)

Re. giving a translation - I always used to, and then I found that it influenced people too much. I think you may be right about the "n" though, I'll check with the author. :o)
franglish Jan 18, 2015:
@asker si tener este origen racial.. should it not be siN tener este origen racial? Also, what are your translation ideas?

Afro-textured hair - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

better yet, afro-textured

Note from asker:
But I think you're right because when this text refers to "kinky" hair, it always means type 4 "black" hair. :o)

Using "negroid" could be risky to be blamed for racism, same comment for afro type.
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : You should be careful about classifying your answers as 5 when they're not in your native language. And there's nothing racist about Afro.

neutral MollyRose : If this translation were to be used, then what about the end of the sentence (...este origen racial)? It wouldn't make sense.
