liminality
This word is used in psychology and relates to the Latin word Limen meaning threshold. You may want to paraphrase this as it is not a common word, and say something like "in a state of transition", it depends on your text. The Portuguese word is I think equally specialised though.
Some explanations:
Liminality (from the Latin word līmen, meaning "a threshold") The liminal state is characterized by ambiguity, openness, and indeterminacy. One's sense of identity dissolves to some extent, bringing about disorientation. Liminality is a period of transition where normal limits to thought, self-understanding, and behavior are relaxed - a situation which can lead to new perspectives.
People, places, or things may not complete a transition, or a transition between two states may not be fully possible. Those who remain in a state between two other states may become permanently liminal.

Definition: the condition of being on a threshold or at the beginning of a process
Etymology: Latin limen 'threshold'

: "Liminality is frequently likened to death, to being in the womb, to invisibility, to darkness, to bisexuality, to the wilderness, to an eclipse of the sun or moon. http://frictionproject.com/liminalspace.html

liminality is to do with rites of passage or transition phases. "liminar" in all my Portuguese/English reference books is given as "liminal" and my English/English ones do not have "liminarity". The OED recognises neither liminality nor liminarity :-)

Discussion
There are 10,500 hits for "liminarity" in Google. I praise the importance of the language current use, dictionaries don't usually keep up with the pace of the language changes.
